SAHA is looking for a skilled bookkeeper to take ownership of the organisation’s financial records, from processing day-to-day transactions to delivering critical financial reports.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the full bookkeeping function up to trial balance, including payroll, VAT submissions and reconciliations. This role plays an important part in supporting the CEO and management with accurate and timely financial information, while contributing to the financial health of the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting and Reconciliation

The Finance Administrator will be responsible for developing and submitting weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports, including reports for DSAC, Lotto, SASCOC and team campaigns.

The role will also include compiling management reports for the CEO and management committee, as well as reconciling bank statements, credit cards and all accounts.

Payroll and Statutory Compliance

The successful candidate will prepare and process monthly payroll and related functions, including SARS payments.

They will also be responsible for bi-monthly VAT submissions and ensuring that all statutory fees are paid timeously.

Accounts Management

The role includes managing the full accounts payable and receivable function.

This will involve reviewing creditor and debtor ageing lists, following up on outstanding payments, ensuring accurate allocation, and processing forex payments accurately and efficiently.

Administrative Support

The Finance Administrator will assist with the annual external audit and provide bookkeeping support to the CEO and Treasurer.

The role will also include general administrative support such as maintaining office supplies and arranging courier services.

The successful candidate must ensure that all transactions and procedures comply with SAHA’s organisational policies and procedures.

Functional Competencies

Applicants should demonstrate the following skills and competencies:

  • Strong reporting skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Analytical, accurate and quality-oriented approach
  • Proactive problem-solving abilities
  • Computer literacy, including MS Word, MS Excel and MS Outlook
  • Experience with Sage accounting software, or an equivalent system
  • Excellent customer service and team collaboration skills

Experience and Qualifications

Applicants should have:

  • An appropriate tertiary qualification in accounting
  • A minimum of two years’ work experience in bookkeeping
  • Strong report writing and business communication skills
  • Solid administrative and organisational experience
  • Proficiency in MS Office

Sports administration experience will be advantageous.
