South African Hockey is proud to confirm the national coaching appointments for the Indoor Men and Women’s teams through to the conclusion of the FIH Indoor Hockey World Cup in 2029, marking a key step in the continued growth of the indoor game.
Justin Rosenberg has been reappointed as Head Coach of the SA Indoor Hockey Men, continuing the legacy he has already built with the national programme. Rosenberg has overseen 45 test matches as head coach, leading the team to two Nkosi Cup titles, two Indoor World Cup appearances, and a historic bronze medal at the 2025 FIH Indoor Hockey World Cup in Croatia — the highest-ever finish by an African team in any senior Hockey World Cup.
“Being reappointed is an immense honour. After what we achieved in Croatia, I’m excited to continue pushing the boundaries of excellence and help define the future of this team. I cannot wait to lead the team again,” said Rosenberg.
He will be supported by Cameron Mackay as Assistant Coach and Jody Erasmus as Performance Analyst, both of whom have played significant roles in the team’s development over recent seasons.
On the women’s side, Calvin Price has been appointed Head Coach of the SA Indoor Hockey Women. Price is no stranger to international hockey, having served previously as an assistant with the SA Indoor Women, and most recently helping Namibia to a top-six finish at the 2025 FIH Indoor World Cup in Croatia. Domestically, Price boasts an exceptional coaching record with five SA Indoor IPT titles and one runner-up finish.
“What an honour and privilege to be appointed. This has been a dream of mine for many years, and I genuinely look forward to the challenge. I hope to help the team reach new heights on the international stage,” shared Price.
He will be joined by Taryn de Winnaar as Assistant Coach and Bryce West as Performance Analyst, bringing a fresh and dynamic leadership group to the women’s programme.
Reggie Smith, SA Hockey Executive for High Performance, welcomed the appointments:
“Both Justin and Calvin have demonstrated the ability to lead and inspire teams to perform at the highest level. With these appointments, we are confident in the continued growth and success of our indoor hockey program. Their experience, vision, and commitment are exactly what we need as we build toward the 2029 Indoor World Cup cycle.”
South African Hockey extends its congratulations to the appointed coaches and support staff as preparations begin for the next chapter of excellence in indoor hockey.
